Bansko is situated at the foot of the northeastern Pirin mountain at 925 meters above sea level and it is the most famous ski resort in Bulgaria.

Bansko is a town - museum where the new and the old coexist together. The first buildings on the territory of the town date back to the end of the fourth, the beginning of the 5th century. Due to its convenient location, the settlement develops quickly and in the 18th century, it is among the richest in the southwestern Bulgarian lands. Evidence of the well-being of the merchant families is still home to ancient buildings - sturdy two-story stone houses resembling strongholds with high walls, long eaves, and strong gates.

In recent years Bansko has become the most successful Bulgarian ski resort, which favors the development of tourism. Thanks to its large hotel base Bansko is equally attractive during the four seasons.

The ski center in Bansko has about 70 km of ski runs, over 25 km. ski lifts. The slopes are wide and are equipped with artificial snow guns. Close to them and in the hotels, there are many ski rentals.

Every year in August a traditional summer jazz festival is organized in Bansko with the participation of performers from the country and abroad. For a week, tourists and fans enjoy virtuoso performances.
